An athletic practitioner is a professional in athletic training, massage, physical therapy or emergency first aid industry with an active lifestyle, dedicated to their role in sport.

As a practitioner on NationalSportsMAP.com, we will provide you with the opportunity to work events in your local area, regionally, and maybe one to where you are traveling. We welcome Sports Medicine practitioners who enjoy working and traveling to work sporting events; and we encourage everyone in the industry to sign-up. Shared knowledge among our professionals can create greater vision of athletics and sports medicine in our future. Youth and adults alike need to experience the difference between Athletic Trainers, Physical Therapists, and Sports Massage as well as how the skill sets complement each other. How do I get a client recommendation?
Use your clients as a resource to build recommendations for business! As independent sports massage & athletic practitioners, we network with friends, relatives, clients, and our client referrals. Use this tool to develop a sales strategy that incorporates a “Recommendation Discount.”

All the client has to do is register as a “Visitor” with very little information. Then they sign-in, go to your profile, and there will be a box at the bottom of your profile page. Once they submit the recommendation, it will automatically be displayed on your profile.
How do I know if an event is available to work?
When you see an event you are interested in working, send an e-mail to the contact person as soon as possible. We are seeking hard working, responsible, dedicated, and customer service oriented practitioners to work the events. We will consider all practitioners that e-mail and will notify everyone that sends in the request with a ‘Yes’ or a ‘Filled Position.’ If you would like to be considered as an “In Case of Emergency fill-in practitioner,” please let us know.
What are the requirements to work an event?
There are extra documents that we require you to complete prior to working an event. The documents we need consist of the Independent Contractor Agreement & Non-Compete Agreement and W-9 form, which can all be downloaded on our Downloads and Resources page, along with other tools for you to use at the event. All documents mentioned above must be complete and returned to National Sports M.A.P., LLC prior to working an event.
How will I be paid?
As a member of National Sports M.A.P., you will have the opportunity to work events and be paid for your time. It is imperative that you read the job description of the job you are interested in working. The job description will detail your wage for the session, day, or event. If you decide to work an event, we request that you are available for the duration of the event on two or three day events.

With longer tournaments, 4-7 days, we will have many openings and will work with your schedule.

Depending on your position, you will either be paid on site from your clients or a check will be written to you by National Sports M.A.P. once the event is complete. This will be confirmed prior to the event.
Are there volunteer events?
We will have volunteer events over the year. Our goal is to help events cover their need for Sports Medicine practitioners and we hope that you will join us in support of these events.

If you are starting a new business or looking to develop your existing one, providing your services as a volunteer every once in a while is a great opportunity to build through.

What supplies should I bring with me to an event?
We ask that you bring enough supplies to properly evaluate and assess many athletic injuries. As a professional Sports Medicine practitioner, you know that your job can be light some days and busy on others, so we suggest bringing enough supplies to support working with 20 - 25 athletes/day.

Suggested Items:
  • Table: Either Rhino-Med Sports Medicine Cart or Massage Table
    Emergency First Aid Kit
Athletic Tape, Kinesio Tape, Ace Wraps
    Muscle Cream, Massage Lotion
  • Timer w/Alarm
    Hand Sanitizer
A few sheets to cover massage table, 2 regular towels
Nutritional snacks, water and sports drinks
Sanitizer cloths to wipe table down after the event
What do I wear to the event?
For most events, the athletic practitioner can wear khaki pants or shorts with a red or blue sport polo at the event. Tennis shoes are required. Sportswear and athletic clothing is acceptable so long as your look is professional. Climate, temperature, and weather will always play a key role when deciding on a work outfit.

Emergency Medical Technicians should wear standard navy work pants, hard toe shoes, and a navy polo.

Our team is working fast to create a shirt that will be comfortable for our practitioners to wear. Until then, please help us embrace our clients with professional dress, excellent work ethic, and outstanding customer service. We look forward to helping you grow as a Sports Medicine practitioner in 2011!!
