Sports Commissions

Sports Commissions are the core of recreational sports in every community, large and small. Sports Commissions are built within the local Convention & Visitors Bureau or independently through community leaders because of a void of sport development and sports events in the area. They start small, mainly as non-profit, and build momentum fast. The operations of Sports Commissions has a direct impact on the city’s travel and tourism industry as well as boosting economic development into overdrive. The communities tend to increase financing for new sport complexes when they see how the local Sports Commissions can help develop the city.

Recently there has been more development in sports and sport complexes among communities across the United States. Local communities are coming together in greater numbers than ever before because there is need and value to change our stance on recreation in everyday life. The Sports Commissions role in developing sport is to attain a commitment from sports organization to have a few specific events held in that city. The Sports Commissions are great for increasing sports awareness, providing jobs, creating revenue otherwise not attainable for the community, as well as educating community members about the benefits of being active and how to be healthy.
